After a while on the 'usual' slope we decided to head of and check out a
slope that I had had my eyes on for a while. It always looked pretty good
to me, lots of fresh virgin snow, a steep slope and some interesting bowls
and gulleys. We met Harvey, Siwan and John on the road at the bottom and
persuaded them to come with us too.
It was quite a trek to get to it, through a field, through a little
woodland and then up the big hill itself... It was certainly worth the
effort though. The snow up there was lovely and the slopes just perfect for
some really nice smooth carves all across the hillside. We then headed up
to the second peak and had some mad fast runs down the hillside on the
boogie boards. Lots of speed was gained on the steep top section which was
carried right through to the bottom where there was a little track with a
ramp and a drop leading to some airtime and usually a big crash!!
The snowboarding up there was good too and the hillside now has some lovely
artisitic flowing lines all over it.
To top it all off, the views from the top were spectacular. You could see
the whole of the nanat y Arian forest park and beyond to the north, to the
east was the Cambrian mountains, out West was the whole sweep of Cardigan
Bay and the rolling snow-covered hills to the south. What a day!!
